Title: Toshiba 37X3030d Firmware Upgrade?
Post by: All Mod Cons on October 11, 2011,17:44:19
Hi All,
I have a Toshiba Regza 37x3030D which has been used as a monitor for the last couple of years.  I tried to use it as a TV the other day but it stuck on the initial menu and I couldn't get as far as tuning it.
I've been told the firmware is probably out of date and needs renewing.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction for some instructions on where to get the firmware and how to update it?
Thanks,
Richard,

Hi

The firmware has been posted on this site before, you will have to search for it, it is the same firmware for the 32 inch. i.e the important bit is the 3030 part of the model number

You will also need the cabot tool

Thanks Brian, I'll have a search for the 32inch firmware then.
Could you tell me what a cabot tool is please?

Hi

The cabot tool is the software program that you will need to put the firmware onto your Sd card,
it's not like other types of firmware that you just copy onto the sd card

Hi Brian,
I finally got round to attempting a firmware upgrade.  I used the Cabot PCMCIA PC tool V6 to load the following file to the Sd card:
EURO_a3030d_0056_mw0033_002d_for_service.img

All seemed to go OK. I transferred the card to the back of the TV and got the message 'updating' and then 'done' after a couple of minutes.  I turned it of and on again and got back to the main set-up menu but nothing seems to have changed. i.e. the menu will not allow me to navigate away from the first setting (language - English) and I can therefore not get as far as tuning it in.

Any ideas?  Do you think I've used the wrong img file? is there a later one?

Thanks,
Richard.

Hi

What size card are you using?

You need to be using 512Mb or less

Did you format the card first?

It could be that the freeview board is faulty, although firmware works 9 times out of 10

You have got the correct firmware

Hi Brian,

ah..... this is a lexar 1GB card. Could that be my problem then - that the card is too big?

No I didn't format it. Does the Cabot tool do this?
Thanks,

I've formatted the card as FAT32 - is this correct?

Just used the cabot again which appears to be writing to the card, but then if I try to browse the contents of the card from the PC, nothing is found...... ?

Hi Brian,
I now have a 512mb card.  The card came initialised as FAT.  The Cabot tool wrote to it ok and I tried reading back from the card using cabot and then looking at it via Notepad. I showed that something had been written.

Loading the card into the TV shows 'updating' and then 'Done', but it hasn't fixed the problem with the menus.

Could it be that I have the card initialised in the wrong format?
Also I noticed that the LED insdie the casing is not flashing during load. The instructions implied that it should. Any ideas? Thanks,
Richard

Hi

It looks like you may have a faulty freeview board, i have re-checked the instructions and Toshiba advise using a CF card and adaptor, but I always use a SD card and adaptor with no problems.

One final thought how are you formatting the SD card? I always format my card in my camera, so it may be worth trying it that way

The cabot tool just loads it on the card for you

Hi, yes I tried formatting as FAT and also FAT32, same results though.

Ok, I'll try another freeview board and see what that does.
Thanks,

Hi Brian,

Just thought I'd let you know that a replacement Freeview board solved the problem. I picked one up for £19.

All working now, just on the lookout for a stand for it.

Thanks for your help in getting the TV going again.
Richard.

Hi Richard

No problems, I think you were a bit unlucky to have a faulty board, but, it happens

The majority of them just need firmware

Hi All,

I have a Toshiba 37x3030DG with firmware 2.9 and after changing the antenna I have to tune DDT channels every time I turn it on.

I was told the last released firmware is the 5.6, and the upgrade should fix the problem, but I cannot find it anywere online, nor officia Toshiba websites provide it anymore.
May any of you send me all the software necessary to update this TV please?

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind and precious reply :)
