Title: Nikkai A13FG DVB firmware update
Post by: Turnip on March 15, 2012,13:07:27
Hi folks,

Gather this set was sold by Maplin where firmware updates are supposed to be available via Email - went in circles for a while then found Maplin don't recognise the set. This model apparently has facility to download from signal and has been trying several days but now't.

Anyone done one  ?  Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Firmware updates are not continuously transmitted, but usually scheduled. Manufacturers websites usually list dates and times for the different models covered. the updates may only be available for a few hours, so it's best to have the receiver set for Automatic updates!
Some scheduled updates can be found here

http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php

I have had a search but can find nowt about Nikkai!

Keith

Is it DVB-T or DVB-S?

Hi Keith, and thanks,

What's the difference between DVB-T and DVB-S -

Will Maplin ever admit former Nikkai sales and updates (by Email, as they suggest) ? Guess not - Chris

Hi Chris,

Think about it!!

T = Terrestrial / freeview

S = Satellite / freesat

Some manufacturers have their own frequencies on Satellite making updates less hit and miss.

As the sun is shining Think I'll close early and get home to start work on my outside bar. Summer is coming, hopefully!

Did you ever get the bits for your Dyson?

Hi Keith and thanks,

Hadn't thought - got to the top of the stairs and forgot the question, but, downstairs again - T= freeview and S= Satellite - think I've got it - just for the moment.

Thanks for the Dyson help - got the bits, after a while, pound eventually made, where's that bar, need a glass of the real stuff  - Chris
