Title: Panasonic DMR-EZ49V - U80 issue.
Post by: Turnip on May 03, 2015,10:05:20
Hi folks,

Have one in where after 'Please Wait' for 15 minutes, played a DVD no problem so ejected and went to view DVB where U80 popped up with a frozen picture and naturally no sound.

Had a look about, found nothing on this model, but generally folks pull the mains plug for this problem, maybe several times a day.

Guess there's a Panasonic expert about on Quuq.

What with JVC and Panasonic technology, I'm glad I went Toshiba with their 'Appliance of Science' as have not yet had a duff one to try mend - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Wannabe Pana experts, maybe. Never had U80 but service manual refers to it as "an accidental ejection depends on a accidental error". Sounds like a load of old cobblers.

Presume these are from the same stable (not the cobblers) as the EZ48, EZ47. When these hang up on "Hello" it's usually caps in the PSU and oft under the DVD loader. Check caps for obesity.

Just for your benefit, I'll upload the service manual to the forum. Consider yourself a special person.

Hi Bruce and thanks,

Checked manual and it suggests "Microprocessor Communication Error on Timer Bus occurs" which is pretty helpful.

Machine itself looks fairly new, and with no suspicious caps, and nothing much under the DVD loader. Tried it again today and 'U80' popped up after a few minutes when I hadn't used the DVD previously.

Thought then to try 'factory reset' and No 'U80' since, even after a DVD or two - Poss' not significant as will probably pop up tomorrow.

Only mentioned "Please Wait" as my Toshiba seems to sort itself in seconds without requiring any apology on it's part - Thanks again - Chris.

Hi Bruce,

So true, but after JVC and the 'Blue Flash of Death' the Panasonic seems almost reasonable - No U80 issues today either, but not holding my breath, esp. for a Panasonic.

Notice deleted pages, still deleted, was going to have a word to Keith about flat belts as some order seems to exist, though a bit doubtful - Note Flea sellers give various dimensions, and even various codes with  Belt XX or even AV XX codes that both seem to mean little.

Only mention as have a chap with several Aiwa cassettes from the 70's and wants them mended. Belts are a problem as most require at least 5mm width to stop them sliding off the barrel drive, and most available belts are less than 4mm  - Chris.
