Title: Karaoke discs.
Post by: Turnip on June 27, 2015,11:57:36
Hi folks,
Chap brought in a Karaoke machine to mend from a car boot sale, together with a genuine Karaoke DVD scratched to near oblivion.

Cleaned off the crap and tried copy on two machines - 'Read Error' on both. Tried play it with VLC that plays most everything and it came up with nothing, not even a useful suggestion.

Not sure if the format is totally un-supported, or if it's just a crap disc - Guess Quuq folks will know - Chris.;

Hi Chris,

Not all DVD / CD drives or the software are compatible with the CD-G format.

Hi Keith and thanks,

Suspected machine was only CD-G, so got a cheapy disc from the Flea - Played fine, with graphics. Thought might be fun try copy it with 'Nero' - Copied but wouldn't play on anything here.

Then tried a microphone to groan along, but my Moving coil mike had far too weak an output - Guess originals had a step up transformer as can't imagine battery powered Electrets on a Goodmans XB-20CDG cheapy.

Thanks again - Chris.
