Title: Panasonic SC-HC3DB Radio/CD/I-Pod dock.
Post by: Turnip on August 18, 2015,11:10:22
Hi folks,

Got one of these in for 'no go' - Simply horrid to dismantle as has a motorised sliding door that needs removal to get to the screws holding it together to get the door off. Some folks on line managed to do it, as I did by removing the speaker fret and bottom trim and twiddling a White gear 'till the door moved to the left, where lifting the door centre over the end stop, it would slide off so could get to the 4 screws to get the thing out.

Fault was D753, a S/C S/by supply Shottky bearing the legend 'S6' that I found not useful, so used an RK34 as caps were rated at 10v, and the S/by voltage was 5v.

So far so horrible, but thing was now working a treat 'till I put the sliding door back in several ways, every time it shuffled a bit and display showed 'ILLEGAL'

Naturally tried get a service manual but couldn't find a freebie - Any thoughts ? - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Congrats on the disassembly.......a sterling job, but it's easier than that.

Trick to reassembly is to set the door gear at the bottom to one end as you slide the door into its runners.
I'll upload a service manual to quuq...may not have DAB but you'll get the gist of it.

Shorted standby diode is a common failure in the several models using this style of build.

Hi Bruce, and thanks.

Nice to have a Panasonic Hero on Quuq to save the day.

Talking 'The Impossible' had a Bang and Olufsen one in to try sort a short while ago.

Quite impossible, but at least it didn't have a motorised door, as folks have to get up to insert a CD or I-Pod, as they can't yet do it via the RCU.

Guess, just an old timer with legs - Thanks eternally - Chris.

Later - Following the manual info, re-assembly business went a treat, will search out Fleabay for duffers, as machine performs better than one might suspect for such small dimensions. Had a 'Bose' in the other day for a mend, but suspect the Panasonic out performs it.

Note - Though your are always helpful after the event, there's a lack of 'Heads Up' before we get it, though you have probably seen them a thousand times before, but never ever mention for some good reasons.

Just a thought, as do a note every good mend, some a bit daft maybe.

Later - With 'Bruce' help, things worked a treat, Door slides as should, would like another hundred B4 I forget how to suss it.

Never happens though - Thanks again  'Bruce' - Would suggest Quuq has some sort of award - Bowling folks maybe get a thimble - Not a Bowler myself, as they move too fast.
