Title: Samsung and Toshiba DVD.
Post by: Turnip on October 02, 2015,10:12:04
Hi folks,

Have a Samsung HT-X200 Cinema, where the disc spins but is not recognised (not even a CD) Checked numbers on laser and came up with DL3 7F08  CG 07125 which doesn't seem to relate to anything on line.

Also a Toshiba D-R18DTKTB where S/C FET chopper has popped the main fuse and maybe a few other bits.

Got Service Manuals for both from ElektroTanya but wonder if anyone knows which laser, and whether there is a list of bits to change in the Tosh as wouldn't like it to pop when I plug it in - Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Know aught about the laser. You're on your Pat Malone with that one.

Re the Toshiba, if you don't wish to see pyrotechnics, remove the mains fuse and fit a 100W lamp across the fuse terminals (or something which would achieve the same result). This will limit the current and protect the chopper. If the lamp illuminates brightly, you know that you still have a problem.

As one Aussie PM put it: "Life wasn't meant to be easy". Don't you just love it when persons with pots of dough come out with statements like that.

Hi Bruce and thanks,

Have used a series 100w light bulb since duff degauss PTCs cost me in fuses. Not quite so useful with modern sets as bulb flashes and the set sulks if no immediate problem.

Have moved on to a two bar 1KW electric fire in series, as still saves on fuses and the set usually fires up, or the fire does.

Not well in with British PMs as they mostly went to different schools (Floreat Etona) or somesuch, but we now have a chap with a beard and sandals.

We might well be back to steam trains, on lines torn up in the 60s, and one channel television where 'Muffin the Mule' was our favourite entertainment - So it goes - Chris.

Sorted the Toshiba - No go (PS popped) Checked PS and found Fuse, Chopper, chopper driver, 27v Zener and SB3B0 secondary diode duff – Done, seems OK - Think a pic.

"Muffin the Mule" you say. Too bad puppet shows are too passé for rug-rats these days. I always advocated that rear projection TVs could be recycled for such frivolities. But then people would point and say,"Don't be
such an ass".

Good work on the Toshiba, but I see you've been doodling again. Filthy habit.

Hi Bruce,

Still having small troubles with the Tosh - Think enter again with details.

As to 'Muffin the Mule' - read something in 'Private Eye' to do with leaders and 'Porcines', but don't believe a puff of it.

Never happened in my day in a decent State School with free 'Third Pints' of summertime curdled milk 'till our 'Maggie' stopped 'em for some reason a bit right of centre.

Used to drink half a crate of Left'ish cheese daily as no one else would, and none the worse - Chris.
