Sharp LC-46LE600E - Lamp error reset.

Hi folks,

Just had one in with the usual Sharp problem where reset lamp error to zero, then retuned set after discovering the code was 1-2-3-4 (Maybe always is)

Suspect it's just ageing tubes (though it came on no probs) but have had the odd case where bad connections were the problem (Esp. that one with burned edge connectors on the inverter panel)

Thought I'd ask before lifting the screen out for a look-see, as can see nothing dubious on this set.

Hi Chris,

Don't have a service manual for this one, but suspect they have moved on from charring edge connectors.

I do know that when the lamp error count reaches 5, the set will refuse to start, but unless you find the cause, it'll back to bite you where the sun don't shine.

Might have to open the panel and check CCFLs. Maybe one has a pinkish glow, which will cause a shut down and register an error count.

Thought the power/inverter board looked a bit odd, then realised it's Led backlit, so guess it's a screen off jobby.

As the screen is only an inch or so in depth might also be edge-lit - Gets better all the time.

Nice one for discovering a screen fault. Guess in my case I got no flash from the Led as it had counted up to five and just turned itself off.

Sort of glad no other make bothers count BL failures, but with Sharp Led models you don't have to short out 'protect' to get it to fire the screen up.

PS - Later had a word from a chap who had the same problem with a Sharp Led set where he reset it and hasn't heard a word since. Could well be that glitches over the years are counted in the total of 'five and you're out' - Will see.
