Pioneer DC-Z81 - No sound.

(1/1)

Hi folks,

Have one with no speaker output though the relay which susses output issues clicks in after a few seconds so would feel the STK-4152 II output module is OK as it's unusual for both sides to fail at the same time, and anyway the relay wouldn't click in.

Downloaded the service manual from ElectroTanya, but as it's a scanned paper one, it's difficult to read. Have checked regulators where voltages seem appropriate, so wonder if the audio is being muted. Tried inputs to the module with 50Hz from a damp finger, but no buzz either channel, and that's after the mute circuit.

Wonder if it's a known issue - ? Thanks for thoughts - Chris.

hi turnip
looked at diagram relay feeds to headphone plug/socket with a fuse to feed it ,possible faulty relay contacts or h/phone socket or that fuse .worth a check first

Thanks 'Cat'

Said relay clicks in, so guess nothing wrong with the STK chip. Did an ohms check on STK outputs with the set on and got clicks from both speakers. Haven't yet checked the headphone socket, though guess it works in conjunction with the complex mute circuit on the STK input pins.

Customer patient so thought assemble my Chinese audio generator modules so can inject signals better than mains hum from a held screwdriver. It's nifty and cheap - Sine, Square, Triangular, pretty well up to RF for radio IF alignment, crystal controlled with a good LC display. Just needed a job to get it assembled into a decent case - Chris.
