Philips DVDR5520 - No go.

Hi folks

Just had one in for no go. Primary seemed OK, start up chip resistors in value, just no secondary voltages. Took the power board out where the main cap bit me. Secondary had 2 x 3300 mfd 10v caps looking distressed, so replaced them.

Surprisingly it fired up with no issues whatever - Just needed a re-scan. Pretty good for a 2008 machine - Chris.

Thanks for the heads-up, Chris.               Bruce

Hi Bruce, yes well,

Have noticed 'Quuq' often pops up on a Google fault search, including quite a few of yours too - Chris.

So, we're giving the DIYers a leg up for free - forum should be members only, maybe.

Hi Bruce,

Gather there are such forums for members only, even might know some members, perhaps, but they never pass on any info, as seems its death or a ban from such sites.

Great fun today as got a new'ish 'smart' Bush/Vestel with a genuine Vestel screen (Gather they formerly used LG where they died like flies)

The new Vestel screen is 'Cost Improved' with Leds 1.6mm square - Bit small, I thought, and with nothing to prevent folks pushing the screen in, if in the mind. Happily the strips clean up nicely with a glass fibre pencil, where a 50/50 3v diode does the biz. Bit worried about any guarantee as just done a third Led mend on a Panny using LG diodes in a year - Chris.
