EEPROMS
« on: November 13, 2009,11:06:52 »
Hello Folks,

Suspect I am not the only one fighting shy of programming EEPROMS. Read about it in the good old 'Television' Mag a while ago and didn't understand a single word.

It would seem useful to copy good devices, Michael Dranfield - digifix.co.uk - has an extensive list, and Lloyd Research - lloyd-research.com - does a field programmer.

Can't yet discover - 'EEPROM Programming for idiots'

Not for a moment suggesting that any reader might be one - like me - Chris.

Hi Chris
The TV mag published a circuit to build your own eeprom reader many years ago, which I did, it was a doddle. and the pony prog programme is great for copying eeproms and very easy to use. Couldn’t do without mine.
give it a go if you’ve still got that copy of the TV mag(should still have it some ware if you haven’t)
Its easy peezey

Hello  :clap:try this you'll like it ,am now trying to modify it so as to support other eeproms like NVM2030
This is the simplest eeprom programmer it takes 10 minutes to finish if you have all the components
its very easy to use i can copy and edit any 24CXX eeprom it supports hex, bin, motorola and e2p files
copy this link and paste into your browser to see the schematic diagram http://bp0.blogger.com/_0uR92uxHqSY/RytjbgwB8fI/AAAAAAAAABc/Sl8fQqH3xpk/s1600-h/eeprom_prg.gif

This design uses only two resistors (4k7 and 10k)to program any IIC serial eprom. It is connected to a PC serial port. I've succesfully built it for all my  24CXX. It is driven by the Claudio Lanconelli's PONY PROG free windows software copy this link to get the soft ware http://sourceforge.net/settings/mirror_choices?projectname=ponyprog&filename=PonyProg%20Windows%20setup/2.07a/ponyprogV207a.zip. Set it to "SI-PROG serial interface select a corresponding COM port
You need an external +5V power supply to feed the circuit. Be careful to apply the power before connecting the circuit to the serial port. If your PC case is permanently left open (just like mine), then you can easily steal the power from the PC supply . Usually GND is on both the black wires, +5V is on the red one.If get any difficulty contact me kajubij@gmail.com

Hello, both worthy Technophiles,

Many thanks, would be really impressed. but got most of that stuff, some years ago. Read the first page, couldn't understand a word, and immediately funked, as it didn't involve physical hot iron replacements.

Retired now , so must get recent, esp. with all that new non 'Greencrap' - Chris.

PS - have some info - old TV mag, and current - don't understand a byte yet, but will attach if pressed.

I heard some things about EEPROMS. ROHM's high reliability serial EEPROMs are among the top of their class. They command a large market share and are not rear in a range of capacities, bus interfaces (Microwire, I2C, SPI), operating voltages (1.8V to 5.5V, 2.5V to 5.5V) and package types, making them ideal for battery powered devices. In addition, the entire series utilizes unique double cell construction, significantly improving reliability, and are both lead-free and RoHS-compliant.So lot of thank.
