Samsung LE40B550A5 near disaster
« on: February 04, 2011,13:41:34 »
A customer phoned to say her 40" Sammy was going off so mentally rubbing my hands I quoted her for the repair. Turns out it wasnt the usual type of PSU but a PSU/inverter combi. I thought that the mains input socket was faulty so I removed the PSU. BIG MISTAKE as all the tubes then came out of the inverter board.
I had to replace the panel, turn set on to back and completely dismantle screen to pop the tubes back into the sockets. I really dont know how you are supposed to remove the PSU without the inverter as they are attached.

Are we talking about power/inverterboard BN44-00264C.
Screw off 4 black and 1 blank then push the board against the mainboard,
not the small ones that is for the tubes holder.

I know this an old post However this board is easily removed by taking out the mounting screws and then sliding the board to the left :) I guess originally you tried removing the board directly towards you which would have caused the issues you describe!
So anyone else trying to remove psu/inverter follow this advice :)
Just had two Samsungs both with the psu so a dab hand with removing them :)

For anyone interested had this psu blowing 3.15A fuse turned out following items blown as a result of ic going belly up!
ICM801 ICE3BR1065JF
CM806 1KV 100Pf
RM831 1w 0.4R
DM808 1N4148
Just waiting for parts to arrive....
