LG50PS3000 - worth saving?

I have an lg 50ps3000 which when I turn on from standby the standby light turns from red to blue and then flashes 8 times and then turns back to red after 50 seconds.  The screen stays black at all times but it does ake an odd sound at the point the screen would normally fire up.

Is anybody able to help with the possible fault of this unit? Is it an expensive repair and is it worth doing, this unit seems to break down once a year ( it's only two years old). I read on the t that this tv rarely makes it past 2 years?

I've just linked it to a harmony remote control and my wife thinks it's down to tha I'm just saying that's bad tming, please dint let her be right or I'll never hear the end of it.
