Viewsonic N3752 with FSP271-5F01 PSU failure
« on: July 30, 2013,11:41:02 »
I have a Viewsonic N3752 that about 8 months ago failed.  There is no picture, but the sound is there.  Unit otherwise functions as far as I know.  After some research, I deduced that the power supply (FSP271-5F01) may need repair, and I ended up replacing 15 of the capacitors (a "kit" was available for just this PSU, from many sources).  Now, when the unit is powered on, there is a brief pause, then a click, and the screen flickers (did not do this before the "repair", simply sat there blankly).  I am not certain that it "clicked" like that when it was fully functional, but I think so.  Additionally, there were two of the capacitors that I removed at the same time, a 220u25V and a 220u35V, that I did not mark when I removed, so it took quite a bit of research to figure out which one went in which location, but I am reasonably certain they are in the correct spots.

Any thoughts, before I plunk down for a replacement power supply?

Thanks in advance...

W

Well. Does flickering stops after while? If not, then stop looking for bad caps and test those FET-s on the inverter side of PSU. Oh yes. Is it backlight flickering or is it signal flickering ( back light stays lit)?
