TEAC 50' lcd tv
« on: July 10, 2015,05:27:10 »
hi all..  :sign0144: and am in need of some  :sign0085:. iv searched on the site but it doesn't have much TEAC related info..
i have my sons LCD TV here and its started hissing. it doesn't turn on however if my son sits there and keeps pressing the power button it will at times turn on..
at first i suspected bad caps on the psu board... i have removed the board and there is no visual damage anywhere apart from one section which looks like it has been hot and melted the board resin a little.. but there are no discolouring or burns..
i cant locate exactly where the hissing is coming from..

the TV model is DLE5089FHD
the psu board is KW-PLE500601A

should i just locate another board or is there something i can do with this one first..?
im quite capable of replacing capacitors and what not.. im a computer tech and game console tech..install mod chips and repairs etc..

cheers

 Hi Sean,

Not overly familiar with this model, but I have 2 faults which you might care to check:

1) Blinking red standby LED - DS2 shorted resulting in no 24V supply.

2) No standby LED - D3 / D18 shorted resulting in no Vbus 380V supply.

You could also check if there's a firmware upgrade for it. The panel type dictates the firmware you use.
There are 2 firmware versions. Using the wrong firmware will result in an upside down picture.

Hi.. and thank you for your quick reply..
i just realized i forgot to indicate what the power/stand by light does on the unit...
ok when you first plug it in to power you obviously get the stand by light. hit the on/off button and it will blink once but return to stand by.. all while still hissing and the pitch of the hiss doesnt change..

i had a quick look online for a firmware file but failed to locate one.. any help pointing me in the direction please.. not asking you to actually find it for me but the name of the web site would help me heaps..

cheers

As you are in Oz, google Install and Fix Solutions. They are the current Teac agent since AWA went belly up.
