Technika LCD19DVDID-307 Won't tune - UMC.

Hi folks,

Just got one in, where if input is switched to DVB it's impossible to retune it as facility is blanked out in the menu.

Gather it's an old favourite as several sites suggest pressing Menu then 8 four times, as suggested by UMC on their useful help site 'www.umc-uk.co.uk/faqs.php'

Does nothing of course. Was initially thrown as did a scan with a Blue screen so thought it DVB but it was analogue and came up with nothing, naturally.

Suspect I need a bin for B.TD703D 7355 - Any thoughts ?  Thanks   - Chris.

I was asked to look at a set with three or four channels missing, blank screen and a red cross in corner, this was a Samsung. The digital tuning was greyed out yet tuned OK on analogue to no avail of course.... but when I did a installation tune it first tuned analogue then switched to digital halfway down the tuning scale...... duh!

Digital tuning was still greyed out, it was an oldish set and she didn't want to spend too much on it, one or two stations ITV4 was one she wanted was blank with no sound and a red cross in the corner.... either firmware or Eprom I thought, wouldn't even let me do re-set.

Hi Davy,

Sammies are famed for corrupt Eproms after P/S issues. Mine of course is a UMC which has gained a certain reputation - For being total crap.

Note current 'Blaupunkt' is now also UMC rubbish - Bit sad as 'Blue Spot' used to be really nifty, way back when makers were makers - Chris.
