sinclairtv:
Just got a 55in LG from the dump. No pic so gingerly removed screen. For some reason couldnt get the strips to light with my pwr supply so scraped and checked every one. There was no duff one so I gingerly lifted and replaced the screen without a hitch. I replaced the metal surround and as I tightened the final screw, heard a 'ching' and the screen cracked though strangely enough no spider web effect as the crack didnt reach either edge. So back to the dump with it later. Must have been a PSU fault I suppose.

we're not aloud to take tvs from  our tip anymore, you can get good spare parts from there, as well cheers

Remember doing one a while ago - Was a CCFL 32 inch jobby where the top tabs were suspect. Padded it out with flexible carpet underfelt stuff from the local tip - Terrific, job done.

On replacing the surround - No problems at all, but next day noticed a crack from a corner that had developed overnight as I hadn't quite got the screen in right.

Learned a bit from that one - Chris.

I watched a customer load up a 37" LG some time back into boot of car,now luckily he'd seen it working on bench.Loaded in laying on back on top of shopping, including tins of dog food all laying loose in back.I advised putting set on back seat, but no,picking kids up so no go.Following day brings setback ,no picture, yep broken screen caused by tins of dog food, thought I'd give him a refund, lol ,lol, silly man.
What I call a Disney thought process, kept telling me it's under warranty.Very hard at times not to be rude, you have to find different scenarios, like your cars gets serviced as agreed, costs £150 for service, then you complain that second gear is noisy, garage man is not going to fit a free gear box for you.

Turnip:
Happens all the time, fixed a set where the customer laid it screen down on the mains plug. Didn't actually break the screen but the scratches were a bit off putting. Didn't offer a refund, just smiled after he'd gone again as I didn't load it into his motor - Chris.
