Hi gents ,have this set and it is only 18 months old .Have back lights and sound but no pidcture . Does not seem to have a separate Tcon board . It all goes into the long panel attatched to the screen. Have attatched pic . The surface mounted fuse has gone o/c, 12V going into board and the screen side reads s/c to earth . If I short out the fuse the backlights go off . Just wondered if anybody has had this fault before or is it a throw away set . If they are doing away with the Tcon boards and attatching them to the screens without plugs its just another nail in our coffins I am afraid

Hi Ken, T-con may be incorporated on the main board, but fault will be on the buffer board (pix 3), so you're basically screwed. Only hope is if you can trace a short on that board, perhaps one of the smd caps, but that would be fun. Bruce

Are the connections to the screen on plugs or are they bonded to board,that way you could eliminate the screen,most likely a SMD cap I bet.

Thanks for your ideas Bruce and Bonesy . The diode reads s/c as do all the caps in pic 3. The cables to the screen are bonded at both ends of the board . Its just the same cables as when you have to change the LED strips you have to avoid moving to much . Reason I thought the Tcon was built into this board is that the diode and fuse look the same as you get on a Samsung Tcon board . Dont want to start soldering around because customer may want it back and try to claim on insurance for a broken screen. Will let you know if I get any further forward . Thanks again

Hallo Bruce and Bonesy ,just an update. Customer told me to keep TV so did a bit more investigating . Pushed the middle of the 3 sm caps and the middle one split in half . Cleaned it away and short gone . Replaced fuse and TV working fine . Didnt replace cap but will run for a couple of days to see what happens . Thanks for your help
