Hi folks,

Got one, made in 1920 maybe, where someone removed the speed controller - Possibly due to congealed grease issues.

Gather motor Swiss Made, but not a 'Thorens' as they stamped Thorens on metalwork.

Attach pictures as someone might have ideas.

Not a nice machine as horn made of cardboard, and with a crude wood cabinet with two front doors to control volume - Bit different from Quuq usuals though - Chris.

Won't say I mend such stuff every day, but have sorted several - They're a bit like 60s autochangers, where grease congeals, and the speed controller weights get stuck on the shaft giving speeds near CD where the needle can't quite read the disc.

Usual problem is that the spring breaks, note Ebay has quite a few if you care take your life into your hands, as removing the spring can be lethal, taking no prisoners.

Not many clock repairers about today since the Xtal did the biz. Just thought mention in case someone had one kicking about, never know, will keep checking Ebay, as worth a pound running at the right speed, but nothing if it doesn't.

Amusingly, some folks think I might shuffle in an electric motor, but such machines didn't have a plug, just a handle - Chris.

notice several cheap complete units on fleabay site if they don't work can always butcher one for bits

Eyes on the site at least twice a week, They're mostly HMV, where of course the bits don't fit as motors are quite different. Might use another motor but the speed control wouldn't fit as the linkage is curious. Mine has a speed dial mostly underneath the turntable, so need remove it to check - Said it was a cheap one with a cardboard horn - Mind you - 1920 'ish where some folks were still doing hill and dale cylinders.

Also got a Swiss Cuckoo clock, where bird should pop out on the hour, but it doesn't as the Chinese made 'trigger' movement is duff and only available in Trump's America - Cheap but $20 post, where China does the same basic movement without the pair of hour contacts for 99 pence, post paid. Guess wait a bit, as Trump might inadvertently sort even cheaper imports - Chris.
