Beko 15" LCD TV
« on: June 29, 2008,05:03:39 »
Hi everyone, Apologies in advance if this question has been answered elsewhere. My Beko 15" LCD TV is faulty. I can hear sound but there is no picture and no green light. The set is 2 yrs old and is used in my caravan when I'm touring. Local repairers are not interested and the consensus is "throw it away and get a new one". I'm having difficulty with this as I come from a generation who can't come to terms with this philosophy. I suspect they are saying that it is beyond economic repair but if the fault is known and the parts are available perhaps I could repair this myself. How does that sound? Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi, no picture normally means the inverter has gone.  The inverter runs the backlight on the screen.
The inverter will connected to the screen with 4 wires (2xblue/white 2xpink/white) small board normally on the left.
Not an easy thing to test though.  You may be able to get a spare, but normally this will cost more than the tv's worth.

Hi rebel-mc,
Thanks very much for your comments. Have you any idea where I could buy an invertor for this model in the UK? Also, on Ebay at present there are people bidding for faulty LCD TVs, one recent bid went to £35! What do the bidders want with faulty "too costly to repair" LCDs. Please come back.
