PHILIPS FTR9965 RECEIVER BOX
« on: November 03, 2008,16:08:44 »
Hi;
As anyone got a service manual?,for this box. the fault is as follows,
The display panel is working o.k. but the receiver powers on,with
picture and sound for a few seconds, then picture breaks up into lines and the box switches back into standby!
On entering sam, no error codes are present, have replaced all electrolytics in power supply. Very rarely box will run ok! till switched off and back on then fault returns.
Many Thanks
Bri.

I think this relates to your model.
Set turns on for ~10sec,no display, LED flashes red, then standby.
Low 3.3V & 5V rails trigger protection.

Rebuild power supply, 3.3v & 5V lines filter caps dry up.
I have found a few Philips plasma with different chassis all suffering similar problems. 3.3v & 5v filter caps.

Also check XSUS look for 2 SMD caps in the top right corner, C48 & C49 (10u each), replace.

Good luck

My Philips 33FD9944/01S is now working having changed several electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.  The television only as a VGA input and works well when connected to my computer.  It is normally connected to a Philip FTR9964/12S receiver unit.  If I connect a television to either External 1 or External 2 SCART and push the power button the following happens:
The power LED is red for an instant, the relay on the power supply energises. The power LED turns orange.  After about 2 seconds the picture from the analogue tuner appears but without sound.  The picture remains for about 6 seconds.  The power LED turns green, almost immediately the relay de-energises and the power LED starts flashing.
I’ve checked all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply in-situ with a Peak Atlas ESR meter and all appear to be satisfactory.  I’ve also bridged each voltage output from the power supply in turn with a large capacitor.  This made no difference.  I’ve also tried a large capacitor across the input to the 3.3 volt regulator (7009) and a 47 mfd capacitor across its output, again with no change.
Please can anyone help?
I have managed to download the manual for the 33FD9944/01S but have been unable to find a free download for the FTR9964/12S receiver unit.

Hi,
Have you tried entering the sam mode of the box (not the panel)
and changing the "stand alone" option to yes?
The procedure for this can be found if you google "lumenlab" and enter FTR9964 in the search box and read the forum notes
Hope this helps
