Hi,
can anyone please, please help me. I live in France in the middle of no-where, there is no-one who repairs plasma's even if there was I could'nt afford the prices they charge. Our t.v is our main source of entertainment because of where we live so I could really do with some help. The t.v has coloured vertical lines on half the screen, the left hand side. Now and again it flickers and becomes normal but has not done this for a while. From what info I have gathered I think it is the x_sus board but I am not totally sure. If I am right I need to know where to get a replacement part and some advice on how to do the job. Me and the family would be so grateful

Hi,

If you are lucky it might just be that the ribbons that address that part of the screen need cleaning,
try giving these a clean.

If you are unlucky you may have a faulty PDP panel

Try taking a picture so that we can see the lines we are talking about

Hi Brian,
sorry i have'nt responded to your comment but i have been away. Anyway just an update, changed the x_sus board as i was led to believe this could be the problem but no good. It appears as if this is a common problem on this model and could be the y board. This happened after being away for a while and i have to admit the house is cold with no heating on, this did happen before but cleared after a day but not this time. I cant believe its the screen as the lines are coloured surely the lines would be black if its the screen was gone. Can you please give any advice. I have included a photo. Thanks

A very interesting fault, and not one I have seen.

I doubt it is the Y-Sus as the picture looks to be behind the vertical lines. I would wage it is 1 of 3 things, which I would change in this order:

(From the rear)
1st. Right hand Scan PCB, directly below the vertical lines, running from the centre of the TV to the right hand corner.
2nd. Logic PCB, underneath the metal cage that hold the board you plug everything into.
3rd. Mainboard, the board you plug everything into.

I do really think it's the Scan board. A bit fiddly to change, some very fragile COF tabs, but it can be done with nothing more than a philips screwdriver.

Hi Tony,
thanks for your input, it was interesting. The second board you mentioned is the prob I think. After reading your reply I disconnected all the cables to that board and re-connected them and it worked, does this mean the connections were dirty or is there a possibility the board has an intermittent fault?. I notice on the board there is 2 led lights, 1 is flashing and the other is on constantly, am I correct in assuming these lights indicate faults? if so what does this mean. Many thanks.
