We have the UK version JVC MXJ30 Compact Component system. Never had the remote, so manual only Volume. Ours has problem of volume increasing BUT you can reduce with VERY careful adjustment of Vol control. Thought at first it's the (digi?) pot. Tried strip down and it's a major job to get at control.
No schematic yet so in the dark.

I've a shot of the Vol Control JS971 which must be digital as it connects straight to Micom IC804.

Hi All
This unit went back to owner as he thought it was covered by his insurance
It was not so i should be getting it back soon and will do a strip down and see if i can sort it
I will post result and any info! but could be a while
