Bush DVD142 TV (Vestel 11 AK 46) - Standby light flickering plus beeping

Not a TV expert so need some advice guys...

TV/DVD stopped working last night. The standby light just flickers faintly in time with a beep sound. Unplugging from mains and replugging has no effect.

Absolutely nothing works.

Its a couple of years old and had no problems until now.

One of my guys at work is an electronics engineer (mainly tv cameras) so any advice you can give me I can pass to him so he can hopefully fix the problem for me.

I've downloaded manuals/circuit diagrams from this site also.....all chinese to me but my guy will be able to understand it.

Hi, not my favourite tv, but -

   D808(UF5402) goes short circuit, replace with UF5408, L/OP transistor (Q602) goes short circuit - possibly due to dries on Line output transformer. Has been known for the chopper control chip (MC44608) to cause this problem.
