HI GUYS ,I have repaired 7/8 LCDS of this model and the 73/74 versions over last 18 months with good
results,untill now.  I have a LE40R88BDX FOR REPAIR . Contrast john had a post recently and cured the
fault. I s/c pins 5&6 of eeprom ic 1803 ,but still won't start.

My relay clicks on for 5 sec and off for 2 sec and the led flashes during the 5 sec cycle and constant on during the off 2 sec.

Anybody with more information ? Thanks   tv john

Wondered if you`ve had any success with this one.
Sounds as though there`s been further damage caused by those troublesome electrolytics on the power board. Seem to remember that when the relay energizes all the supplies appear and that there are more regulators on the main pcb fed by the 5 Volt line. Could be worth a check on these, but any components supplied by them may also be suspect. Reckon though that the eeprom IC is probably the prime suspect and would be worth a swop if it was available.
These are popular sets and I guess by now this situation may be common with the remedy documented by the manufacturer. So if anyone has the answer please add it to this post!

Hi John,It turned out to be the eeprom ic 1803 situated under the card holder. I got it from CHS at a good price,but it was tricky to replace and set it's self up, stations and all

Great result! Think it suggests that IC 1803 might be a weak spot on these chassis, especially after capacitor troubles. Reckon that it could give rise to quite a few other mystifying symptoms too. Thanks for posting the info- can just picture the scene with that 50 watt iron and a very steady hand!
