Goodmans LD2655HD blows power board fuse
« on: April 09, 2010,11:46:41 »

I have a goodmans LD2655HD in pieces... The internal 2.5A fuse on what looks to be the power regulation board blew, and when it's replaced, it just blows again (Very bright flash, quite violent). Is a repair worthwhile? Or is it better to take it to the tip and buy a new one? I can't seem to determine exactly who made this board, there's no real identifying marks on it.

TIA
  Hamish

Does anyone know where the part number for this supply is located? There's a red label with 20305215 on it, and the underside of the board has silkscreened on it what looks like a cursive 'e' and 76V0A and under it 94V-0...

I haven't found anything on the sites mentioned that looks like my supply yet.

TIA

Google 17PW15-9 for repair kits and complete PCB's.

Ah! Found it... 17PW15-9... The part# was hidden under the yellow goo holding the red cap down at the bottom RHS.

Thanks for the help. I think Charles Hyde has one..

Sorry to be a bother... I've found the part # 17PW15-9. Charles Hyde lists several 17PW15-9's... With prices that range from £60 - £130... Also a few on google... Are all 17PW15-9's identical? (The photos online seem to have an earth strap that mine doesn't have). If I get get a £35 one form google will it be the same as the £126 one from Charles Hyde?

TIA

I think I've worked it out... The 17PW15-9 is an old part, no longer made. Therefore the price is about £126... But there's an alternative part. The 17PW20.1 which is a direct replacement, and only £49... Guess which one I went for :).

Thanks for all you help guys. Second to none.

Beware, replacing a 17PW19 with the newer 17PW20 may need a modified wiring harness as PL805(?) has an extra pin. Before you order a new PCB check the bridge rectifier first, its just above the part no. It could be an easy fix.

I checked out the cabling change, as I'd seen a few mentions of that. But CHS says that the harness is needed for the (Older) 17PW15-8, but not for the 17PW15-9. The PDF says that the cabling is identical for the 17PW20.1 and the 17PW15-9.
