Goodmans GTVL32W17HDF - Proview IPOS-150 PSU

Hi, I have a Goodmans 32" TV with a Proview IPOS-150 PSU.

TV switches on but bears no sign of image/ backlight, just sound. First look at PSU indicates 2 caps blown (10uf 450v) at EC17, EC18, replaced these as well as transistors at Q17, Q16 however PSU still shows blinking red LED light - indicating problem. Caps under heatsink appear ok. Any ideas?

Have one of these where all is OK for a few mins, then LED lower LHS lights, and set cuts out.

Hey all, just fixed it so.  

I missed a blown fuse beside the large cap (Location = F2), didn't see it as it resembles a resistor with its green coating  :wacko:.

For anyone who wants to know, TV had sound but not showing picture or backlight so I replaced:

2 10uf 450v Capacitors (EC17, EC18),
2 FQPF9N50CF Transistors (Q16,Q17) - (any MOSFET 'N' series Transistor near or above 9a 500v should work)
and a 3.15 amp fuse (F2)

Also Chris, not sure if this applies but you might want to check the diode at D10. This power supply often has a bad Diode which can contribute to problems. If so, an ECG 576 might be a good replacement for this diode but I have not verified this.

Hi Guys,

I am also having a problem with this board, the TV shows absolutely no signs off life. The red LED on the board (a status light I presume) does not light at all so I guess the Power board is just shot.   

I cant see any popped or blown components and everything looks dandy, with the exception of the dodgy diode previously mentioned, but even that seems fine and is just poorly mounted.

Is there anything I should double check. If not, what is the cheapest place to get a new board from

Have had some problems with this PS/Invertor, attach my findings for amusement - Chris.

PS - there is some later Quuq stuff on file where faults were found, and set repaired, not my prob though - please check.

Turnip: that was fun reading  :laugh1:

Gibbzz: as far as I am aware the red light on the PSU board only lights when there is a problem, e.g. inverter not plugged in or other

Not to sound newbish but have you tried the fuse next to the power cable, from what I recall it was located next to the mains cable and covered in a black coating. It was mounted erect on the board - it sounds fairly simple but this board has components that are covered in plastic coating which makes visual inspection harder.

Also some caps may be blown from underneath (from what I found  :huh1:) so they may appear well but aren't (you may want to check them again - also some are underneath a heatsink so that makes access somewhat harder but if you have an ESR meter should be much easier to test).

I remember I also soldered the yellow above the mains input plug on the board - just a thought - have a quick look for components that need a touch up of solder.

Another simple thing is whether power is actually making its way to the PSU... Good Luck!

Hi Dansford,

Admit that a glowing LED probably indicates a problem, in my case set worked OK for a while then LED lit. after a while set worked again.

Checked all caps ESR wise - OK, and no permanent PS damage, and power throughout evident - resoldered pretty well everywhere likely, still curious, one still on the pile  - Chris.

PS  Suspect a problem, possibly on the signal/Digi  panel and wait for the next one to Compare. Glad you were amused by my thoughts, smiled meself, although not yet making a pound.

So my tv set has the same symptoms as stated above audio no picture. I have bought the caps and the transistor for replacement now where do I find this " 3.15 amp 250v fuse (F2)" I have looked at digikey but im a noob a this is see fuses upon fuses. Where did you buy yours at Dansford???

Hey everyone thanks for a great site.

I also am having problems with this board.  Followed all of Dansford's tips, caps were bad, his board picture is identical to what I have.  I ordered wrong diode for D10, original one is labeled F107 HER 303, black with one silver stripe, hole mount.

Found that HER 303 is discontinued. Found this as replacement STMicroelectronics part STTH3R02.

Prior to replacing this diode I powered up the TV and still have no picture.  Blinking LED light on power unit.

I am not sure the diode is the problem as it tested OK. I will post back when I get it replaced.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
