42" LCD picture is tartan !!!!
« on: May 01, 2007,17:14:45 »
I bought the tv off a man in a van !! im an idiot i know ! i turned it on and the screen is tartan but i have sound, the colours on the screen change but it is far from being a picture. I have been told that there is a set of microchips that go on lcds and it is probs one of those, they attatch to the side of the screen with ribbon wires , i found these chips and disconnected them and it made no differance to the picture at all , so im no repairman but that must mean that is the broken part !?????? i have part numbers for these chips but have no place to get them from . I have no idea what the model number of the tv is as all the serial numbers have been removed !!! the inside of the tv is all LG stuff tho. i really need help sourcing these parts and would really appreciate any feedback , my wife is gonna kill me if i have wasted money buying a busted tv !!!!!!!! cheers ..... i can post pictures if that would help ???

Take ribbon cables out off both drive panels and clean sockets. If this dosn't work wife will kill you as both panels would cost £200.00

Well well well the whole bottom of the screen is totally free off black bands !! But the top still has the lines.I have cleaned EVERY YES EVERY !! connection on the whole tv and checked they are in right ! Its probabley in better shape than when it was made !!!!  So with my inexperience i still think its got to be one of the chips or two ? that have gone now . So i would like to know if you could either order me a board or point me in the direction of somewhere to order from ??? On the list of numbers i posted earlier it is the top board. Im confident that this will fix it !!!! !!!! (i hope so !!!). If not its gonna be an expensive coffee table !!!!!!
