Hi Snopy44,
Culled a couple of Quuq bits from another 50 inch panasonic -
1. Central black bar top to screen middle.
Im afraid you probably have a faulty screen, you could try cleaning the ribbons but I doubt that will be your problem, and there are usually some little SMD resistors that can fail on the C1 or C2 boards(usually about 18 ohms) but if one of those have failed then im afraid its usually caused by a defective screen.
you need to take the back of the tv and and where the black line is on the screen you will see a rippon
you need to unplug the rippon you will see 2 resistors resoilder them and the black line will have gone
All the best - Chris.
PS Had the trouble on a LG and it was dry jointed resistors on those ribbons

Hi Snopy,
Guess mums are the biz and as a son, never yet appreciative 'till - well, still trying to find some good reason.
Well, she would now be 108, and ever complaining.
Chris

Hi
If you have checked the resistors on the C1 and C2 boards and they are ok,then im afraid you will have a faulty PDP panel

Hi Snopy44,
Be nice to yer mum, she won't last forever - as to the other post, I know nothing more than that LG had ribbons with nice little resistors that dropped off and earned some a pound
Guess Brainstorm will be right as usual - you never find him licking bus winders - too busy - Chris.
