Acoustic Solutions 19"LCD TV ASTV-3619WS
« on: January 28, 2011,15:13:28 »
Hi, :sign0085::sign0144:

I am after some help with this TV. It turned itself off with a blue flash coming from the back with a smell of burning. I changed the fuse and the same thing happened.

I removed the back to have a look what was causing the flash and it is coming from the transformer on the PSU. I googled the trans model number LCL-1608WH AND 608980002050 and came across this site.

I am guessing the transformer is knackard, Is it easy to replace it? Will the PSU still have residual current in it? If so how do I discharge it? I have a little bit of soldering experiance.

I haven't found a site where I can get one from, can anyone surggest a supplier? or where I can get a new or second hand PSU model number ls1904006a ver 1.0.

Thanks for any advice

Sorry was unable to take a pic this morning so uploaded the image I found online.

Here is a pic of the PSU, hope this helps. Like the other pic is the transformer at the bottom of the pic that gives the flash.

Thanks

turn the board over and look for bad soldering or burning marks.

its a coil not transformer if you are not sure what to do
leave well alone if main smoothing block is still charged
be careful can do a lot of damage try local tv repair man

I understand the dangers if messing around with PSU's and not to touch components due to residual current.

It hasn't been plugged in for 3 days, do you think the current may have discharged?

I took a chance and removed the board, I don't have a multi meter to check but noticed I could turn it over with the cable that joins it to the next board.

I cannot see any burn marks on the underside of the board. There is flux residue next the where the flex is soldered on to the board. I have attached a pic of it.
