Panasonic DMR-EH50 (X Hold)
« on: June 16, 2011,08:49:37 »
Hi folks,

Got one of these where only action is a very dim "X Hold" in display when any button is pressed. Note on 'Fixya' they suggest press and hold OK and RETURN on RCU (no OK button so pressed ENTER)

Didn't work so any ideas ?  Thanks - Chris.

Hi Chris,

Sorry the Clinic wouldn't release me until they said I was no longer a danger to the community.

The X hold is a child lock
To cancel the Child Lock
Press and hold [ENTER] and [RETURN] simultaneously until “X
HOLD” disappears.

The dim display is usually the display itself, but worth checking caps in supply just in case.

Make sure the RAM drive is working before you get your wallet out though!

H Brian and thanks,

Did as you suggested and the X HOLD turned into 00.00.

Pressing any button on set or RCU then causes X HOLD to re-appear.

Any more thoughts (terrified of kids maybe)  ?    Chris.

PS - Changed the 2 usual main 2200/16 caps

Hi Chris

Thats strange, that normally works, the only thing I can suggest is to try a full reset:

Press [STOP], [CH UP] and [OPEN/CLOSE] keys simultaneously for 5 seconds when power is off.

The unit needs to be in standby and you are pressing the buttons on the machine and not the remote

Hi Chris,

Did you sort it out?

Or have you been quaffing the homebrew again and can't see the buttons?

Hi Brian,

Guess as a relative local you've been consorting with some Norfolk recycling chums - haven't seen my buttons for some time after kicking that smoking habit, but the wife has a plan.

Fortunately she's away for the weekend so will push buttons tomorrow well before regular homebrew testing time -  Chris.

Thanks again Brian, did full reset as you suggested but afterwards any button caused X Hold to re-appear.

Another for the tip (will hang on to the DVD drive for the next one) - Chris.
