17pw20.1 repaired at last

Being new here I wanted to post something useful up as soon as possible.
I've been fighting with a Technika lcd32-207 for too long. These 17PW's can be annoying to say the least.

Symptom on this one was the blue standby light dimmed and then blinked out and returned to standby. After changing all the usual suspects blanket soldering and pulling more than enough hair out it all came down to C818- 4700uf 6.3v.

Well found - Back threads have both parellel connected 4700/6.3 listed as a common fault - helps to keep the mind focussed though.

Had a AK19 yesterday with a shot chopper and forgot to check those two series source-to-deck BA157s for S/C so blew amother chopper B4 the thought struck - getting old - Chris.

that gettin olds a real pain took the back off a set the other day and couldn't find the valve cap to draw a spark !

Reminds me of when I started at a certain rental company with my new left-handed soldering iron, the chief got me to try change the EF80 under the metal cone tube of an English Electric whilst it was switched on.
