Hi Guys,
Have been offered a Samsung LE46M87BD 46" LCD with a half dark picture.
Basically the unit seems to work ok but the left handside of the screen is darker than the right. It is not blank, still showing a picture with the correct colours but its noticeably darker than the right handside.
My first guess would be the CCFL tubes have gone or the inverter powering them or something in the picture processing circuitry???
But do these large LCD panels have split backlights and not a CCFL tube which runs the entire width?
Has anyone seen a similar issue> half dark screen?
I'm just trying to get an idea of the fault/complexity and whether this is a good deal or not taking into consideration cost of parts/time spent on a DIY repair.
Thanks,
Mark.
