help needed with easy touch tv
« on: September 16, 2011,14:13:00 »
hi ive got got an easy touch et071 tv

i think thats its got a faulty eprom

symptoms include menus coming up as green/blue and flickering
control buttons on side doing other random functions (chanel up now powers off)
no picture on any input
sound only on coax input

its got a cv109h board in it which apparently is known for the u7 chip failing which is apparently the eprom
the lcd is a lc320wxn screen with a lvds which appears to have the same part number

it does have a usb service port which is good as i have no eprom programmer.

if anyone can give me any advice it would be great ive not run across this make before so i beleave its a rebadge but im not sure of what

if anyone can give any advice such as service menus, eprom tips or anything like that i would be very grateful

failing this ill just have to strip it and sell it as spares...

try resetting the eeprom the chip your looking for should be a 8 pin starting with 24c.... solder 2 wires onto pins 5 and 6 . join the wires power up tv shut down and disconnect. remove wires rebuild and test.

hi thanks im pretty sure that it seems to be the one marked on the board as e7, the thing is it doesnt seem to start 24c

it seems to start with k32v

shorting pins 5 + 6 doesnt seem to work

its possible your right in indentifying the eeprom however 99 % of eeproms I've come across have always started 24 something or another
If you're absolutely sure the eeproms the chip you think it is you need to look up the data sheet for the chip and find out which pins are the data and clock pins these are the 2 you need to short out... its not impossible your right but as I said in 20 years the only eeproms I've ever had to reset have almost all without exception had the 24  prefix..... theres all kind of producers and all kinds of variations in chip usuage so double checking your chip number and data is an absolute must before you go shorting anything

tried it but no luck i tihnk im going to have to call it a day with this telly

might be wrong with it being eprom it just seems likely with the coincidences

there was actually two chips starting with 24c one under the usb update port and one nearer the rhs of the board

if it wasnt for the fact that some of the control buttons have changed functions i would have said lvds/lcd so im not even sure if i can sell those seperate might just bang it on ebay as a whole unit

oh and easytouch never replyed to emails suprise suprise

the one near the usb port's likely to be the firmware update chip the other the system chip have you checked the power supply for dodgy caps if its getting ripple or low voltages due to bad caps it could give you funny effects

will try to get a picture of the board when i have more time as i have to go fetch kids from, nursery now

i must say thank you for all your help im sorry ive been a bit of a dunce its the first time ive ever dismantled a telly at home

im not sure how to check the caps on the power supply, something does appear to be making a popping noise but there is no obvious buldging caps or anything like that

the effect ive been getting is

ive retried all the function buttons they seem to work apart from chan+ which now powers the telly off (wont power it on tho)

whole board

numbers close up

oh and if anyone can tell me how to test parts with a multimeter ive got mornings off for the next few days so i dont mind sitting there testing caps

if you've an old analogue meter you can "charge " the caps by testng plus to plus minus to minus then  reversing the leads of your meter and retesting each time you reverse the leads the needle should climb a little higher ( set meter to high ohm scale ) oh aye and make sure the caps are discharged before going near them. If its a digital meter unless its got cap test facility you can really only test for short or open circuit. If the rest look ok and you've got a spare, changing the big smoother cap in the primary is always a good place to start.
