Sony 40X3500 another odd one
« on: November 14, 2011,18:09:20 »
hi...its me again, with yet another odd one...

The TV is in working order but when you turn it on after a couple of minutes a black fog/mist will come over the TV, tap it anywhere on the TV it clears and never happens again for hours...if you turn the TV off for 5minutes and back on it comes back..a tap, gone again. And when I say tap it is a small tap I havent got the sledgehammer out whacking crap out of it.

Looked for a poor connection/bad solder joint but cant find anything...please help on this one as I want this TV for keeps....Love it best picture ever

Cheers Sparky

Screen...  :03:

Do screens fail like this...it just does seem strange that the tv after a tap works fine for the rest of the day if powered down for 5 minutes works fine when turned back on then does the black fog a few minutes later...its not like it does it when the TV is first turned on it takes a little time for it to do it.

Hi S/D,

Not at all unusual, note that some screens now have feeds at the bottom, perhaps to keep those flexy chips cool - Chris.

Same as LG 42" I got from customer. 18 mth old and basically scrap..ridiculous that manufacturers can weasel out of screen problems.

Hi Sinclair tv,

On the other hand mending folks get lots of useful panels cheapish - It's an ill wind, as they say - Chris.
