Have you tried the usual Sharp trick of powering on keeping the Vol- and AV button held down? then pess P- & V- together to access K mode.
If the micro detects more than 6 backlight shutdowns it will not let the set start until the error buffer has been cleared.

The many opto couplers on the inverter are well known to give trouble on this chassis
