Samsung LE40R73BD Lines on screen potential fix
« on: January 07, 2012,08:07:55 »
Have got one of these to repair. I am getting an occasional picture, but most of the time it's black with a few coloured lines on the screen running from top to bottom. The lines flicker occasionally, and sometimes move.

I narrowed it down to T-con as the main board seems responsive with sound and I did get a picture after the set warmed up. Then began to check the LDOs and bingo, one of them was no longer outputting the rated 2.5V, but instead about 1.1V. There were other 2.5V LDOs (which were fine) so I powered one up from the other just briefly, and got a good picture.

No need to replace the T-con when an LDO is dirt cheap.

Will post back if this fixes it but I suspect it will.

Happy fixing

Don't think so, as jumping regulator fixed the problem immediately.

Are the lines "static" or does it start out with a black screen at switch on, and the lines gradually fade up, and not always in the same place.

If so, I had a 32" Samsung like that, and a replacement tcon fixed it.

Lines are somewhat static but tend to move around occasionally, they also flicker from bright to dim like a bad fluorescent tube (but the backlight is fine.) They are visible immediately upon power-up. Program content seem to slightly effect lines but that might just be me.
