42lg5000 only half the screen tcon?

hi if someone can help me it would be great
i have a 42lg5000 which is only displaying half the screen the left hand side is black with just the back light on.
after previous dealings with these auo screens im reluctant to go nd buy a tcon board with out asking any advice what do you think ?

Its the ribbon connectors at top of the screen. Ive tried to fit things in place to force it down but although initially it lasted for a while, its buggered again. Save yourself grief and scrap it.

Had a few of these in now allways tab far left as look from front of tv i use double sided tape layerd with top layer of strong cardboard seems to do job for me done lots now good luck Dave.

Hi, there are 5 small components on the screen ribbon, top left. These need to be re-soldered.

as always im glad i asked on here ,i placed a bit of pressure on the screen ribbon and the complete screen works so i have packed it with a piece off rubber strip and will see how long it lasts

Have searched and this is the only topic I can find. I have a similar problem with mine. Started about 3 months ago where I had a 3 inch strip running on the very left of the screen this would be black for a short time then would get some picture but it didnt display what the full picture was but was normal after about half an hour. A few weeks after this on start up the whole of the left hand side (half the picture) is black. After about 5-10 mins it gets some sort of a picture but its not watchable again for about half an hour. Even then this 3 inch strip never gets a picture but from time to time has a thin red or white line running down it!

I have been watching a few videos and didnt even know the display card was behind the metal plate so I have taken it all apart tonight and nothing looks out of place or blown. The ribbons are all clean and tight so I put it back together and started it up. This time no black screen but the 3 inch strip is now various shades of green!

Has anyone got any suggestions on whats best to replace or and tips on where to go next. Any help would be great.
