Keith:
Hi
EEPROM dump required
This uses a Vestel chassis 17MB12-3
EEPROM 24c64
EEPROM data appears to be specific to manufacturer and screen size!
Thanks
Keith
Keith:
Just tried a file listed above, got the set working enough to show a screen fault. Customer now says they got it at a boot sale!
The original file was in Russian, I have changed it to English. The English version is attached.

Sorry, I can't download the attachment. Do you need the dump or is there another fault?
Keith:
Hi,
I used a file in the eeprom data base at the top of this forum. This managed to get the set working, but in Russian! I changed the language to English and that file is attached in this thread.
Although the set was now working, it wasn't right. From the service menu I reset the NVM from ROM and everything was back to normal.
I have put the good file in the eeprom data base at the top of this forum.
The set would not work with a blank eeprom, also the eeprom data seems to be manufacturer and screen size specific.
As the Vestel 17MB12 seems very common, I think it would be a good idea to save the eeprom data for each make and model you see. Eeprom is in a socket, so easy to do.

MOST sets need eeprom data to work, the problem we're seeing a lot of is when someone has shorted the eeprom to try to repair the set and the set now has 2 faults, Oddly enough, they never know why or who told them to blank it,
MOst eeproms hold data for screen info. which is why sometimes you can swap them from set to set but most times it either won't work or won't be 100% successfull. It sounds like "someone" tried to fix the set before it got to you the engineer.

Andy
