Hi,

has anyone come across distorted sound on tv channels with this recorder.
DVD sound and earlier recordings are OK. Just the sound from tv channels sort of muffled with some noise in the background.
Have changed the tuner, but fault still present.

Common on Panasonic dvd recorders. Check top of main board [the pcb with the tuner] for an area discoloured by heat. On the underside of pcb you'll find the audio and video processor IC3001. Therein lies your problem, all 100pins of it. Change the chip or the main board?? either way you're screwed.
