Hi There
I was wondering if anyone can help me I'm trying to take the back off my TV I have taken all the phillips screws out but there is about 6 screws in the centre of the TV do I need some sort of tool to get these off if I know what to buy I'll go and purchase one.

Nope, I think it just needs 1 tool to open it and you fit the bill.

Are there any even part time Tec's still on this forum?

I think the screws your referring to are the screws left in place to allow you to wall mount your tv . If its always been on a stand and not wall mounted they're prob bloody tight if the screw driver fails to moved them see if you can borrow a set of vice grips and clamp onto the outer circumference of the screw head that might give you enough leverage to " crack " the thread once moving the screws generally come out no bother. I use, and have used for many years the wee 3.6v B&D pistol power screwdriver and find it excellent for tv screws.

Some sets you can take all the screws out then still have to unclip the back as they are held by lugs as well.

Whilst on about back removals we also need be careful..... it may be the front trim comes off after screw removals, leaving the screen to be parted before getting to the innerds.

 Too true  dave got caught with that front off not long ago on a wee combi and your spot on with the clips I use a wee 1.5 inch scraper lets you pop them no bother without leaving the tell tale round chunks taken off the mating edge !

Good idea that jimca007.  I always start at the bottom first an inch or two in from the corners, sometimes if you are not careful they can click back in while doing the others, leaving  something wedged will stop it..... a scraper sounds ideal.

LOEWE AG high end product (expensive) with contemporary styling, very difficult to get inside without causing damage unless you have the correct tools. German made but as with most German products, overated.

Picture quality certainly very good for an LCD but there are better for much less money.

Most engineers call them Lowie but the correct pronunciation is Lerver.

I remember them as Loeve Opta back in the '60s, quite nice little portable radios. I seem to recall hearing mention of Loewe TVs years later.

I understood it to be pronunced Lur-vey but you might be right. Lower is a very well known brand in the electronics trade.

So isn't this set a standard vestel then? Sanyo, 4 years old, black cabinet, just like the 32" I picked up over the weekend? Or am I missing the point?

To get back on topic the 42LD33 is your bog standard Vestel and sometimes the backs can take some getting off but a little gentle persuasion is all it needs.

I think someone in the factory went OTT with the adhesive on the tizz pads at the edge of the back and has caused it to stick to the bezel, something I've come across many times with Vestels.

Now let's wait and see how long it is before we get "What's a tizz pad"

Not sure what a tizz pad is, but I think its the sticky stuff round the edge of the back?

Unfortunately even with them Vestel don't seem to be able to stop nasty audio vibrations.
