ferguson b78nt stuck on standby

i have just been given a ferguson b78nt for my sons bedroom, i plugged it in and it just stays on standby with no sign of life other than the red led on the front, this is quite an old tv and not much service info online,  and ideas guys?

i have never gone thru this set but i can suggest
if the chassis has a memory ic like 24c02 family then this would b the faulty
if not then check for dry joints
