Sony 37" LDK-37V5800

Hi All, Got this set from a relative to repair.  Tv powers up but no picture is displayed.  Backlight is not being turned on by mainboard. (If I unplug the link from mainboard to inverter the backlight comes on).  Tv responds to remote and green light flickers if channel is change.

Just did not come back on after working fine?

I'm thinking mainboard.  And I cant seem to find a one for sale.  Would like to try software update on the existing mainbaord, but obviously cant access menu.  Is there a way to force a usb update?

Cheers For Any Help

Hi,
This is a common software problem, try:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1ccfo05s7d48gm1.
See bulletin 09TV093.PDF, and choose software for
your TVs' screen size, chassis.
Regards.

Hi, Thanks for the info.

Still struggling though.  I have formatted a 2gb usb stick and followed the instructions, but it makes referance to another TB 10tv004 if you have the "Set Blocked" fault (which I have).  I have found the TB required but the 10tv004 TB has a program attached that is supposed to do a NVM recovery.

Did what I though was correct but still no joy.

Do i have to format the stick a certain way?

Any help would be great.

Hi,
Unfortunately you will need  a 'memstick', not a USB to update the software.
I use an old 128M one, and it  has to be formatted in a camera, Windows
format won't work. The socket for this stick in under the PC Card socket,
you will probably need to take the back off to access it, unless you have an adaptor

Hi, I have a Sony 128mb memory stick duo with the adapter.  Formatted in windows and then dropped on the new firmware but still nothing.

If I formatted the card in a sony camera would the card still be accessable in windows to drop on the firmware?

Hi,
That's correct, format in camera, then follow instructions in bulletin.

Hi, Still struggling with this tv.

Basically I have bough a sony camera so I can format the memory stick correctly now.

Placed the firmware on the stick as per instructions on Sony Technical Bulletin 09TV093 waited the 4-6 mins without success.
Also went through the instructions on Sony Technical Bulletin 10TV004 which is supposed to be a full nvram restore if the mainboard has been replaced.  Again nothing.

So, thinking it was the mainboard replaced that.  Still nothing.   Tried re-flashing the new mainboard (as the tv part num it cam from was slightly diff).  Still nothing.

All other parts have been tested but replaced just incase (power supply, lvds ect).

Just got a completely blank display, although the backlight is on.

Any help would be appreciated
