Some Sharps have problems with the IR Rcvr/LED PCB. Remove and inspect it. Near the actual IR Rcvr (3 pin device) you'll see 2 or 3 surface mounted chip capacitors. One of these sometimes goes leaky and drags down the 5V rail to the board. If in doubt, remove them and substitute with electros of 10uF.
