Help Required!!! Sony KDL-32V5810
« on: February 27, 2014,09:34:26 »
Hi
I hope someone can help me on this problem i have a Sony KDL-32V5810 and i bought this as a spare or repairs from famous auction site.  On the description said sound but no picture.  I got it home and i must have tried every input port to see if there was any sound but could not get any.  The green light comes on when u turn on the set.  There are no blinks or anything.  I took the back off and turned the tv on in a pitched black room to see if the back lights are working or not but there was no glows or any form of light coming from anywhere to say the backlights were working.  I got the multimeter and tested the connections on the psu where the cable goes to the inverter and it is reading 24.18v and i also tested the connection going to the mainboard which read 11.75v.  Are these readings sounds correct and does anyone think it could be a inverter problem or tcon and if so please is there any way i can test them to see if they are functioning correctly.  Any help would be appreciated as i am a new to this new hobby of mine.  Thanks

The inverter needs a BL-ON [backlight on] signal from the main board to activate it. On the plug where you measured 24.18V, see if one of the pins is marked BL-ON or INV-ON. Should have 2.5 to 3V on it. If not, main board is faulty. Re the 12V going to the main board, are you sure there isn't a STB-3.3V or STB-5V.
Most sets use a permanent Standby 3.3V or 5V to keep the micro going.

i have checked the fuses on the inverter board and the tcon board and it seems to be closed line which means it is fine.  I have also been told it is most likely to be mainboard as the tv dosent seems to be responding to the remote as i cant put it in standby mode or anything even though the led blinks when i press the buttons on remote.  I am trying to get hold of a main board but they hard hard to find but i manage to find one at a local tv repair place so when i have some money next week i will get it.  I will let you know what the outcome is.  Thanks for your help guys, really appreciate it.

Hi,
Have uploaded relevant files to:

http://www.fileswap.com/dl/FKdeT0bYCr/NO_PICTURE,_ONLY_GREEN_LED.rar.html
(when you open site, use the yellow, 'slow download' button).

Note there's an error in the text file,
Create folders in stick,  'eg21_dvt', in the root, and a sub-folder in this folder called 'swupdate'
the folder should be:
Create folders in stick,  'eg2l_dvt', in the root, and a sub-folder in this folder called 'swupdate'

It's a bit involved procedure,  and needs a 'memstick' to update software,
not a USB stick.
Regards

I tried it with a sony memory stick  and opened the little tab on back of the tv where it exposes the main board with the memory stick reader. i followed the instructions exactly as it says and it did not work for me.

you will need a compatible Sony USB stick formated in a sony device (sony cameras wil do this)
if you have one you have used to show pictures on this tv before it should be compatable
