PDP Screen Failure
« on: May 03, 2008,07:26:50 »
I have been working with LG Plasma products since they were introduced, and as dealers have a good relationship with them. I am only too aware of the y-sus issues with them, and, to a lesser degree the z-sus and ctrl pcb. Repairs to the y-sus pcbs are mixed, unless the drive i.c. (stk) has failed, i manage to recover about 50% of these throughout the current range, pc55 and pc56. Enough of me, current problems are this, why do plasmas give out a deafening buzz with no picture, scope checks are ok, every pcb is changed, y-sus, ctrl, z-sus, y-drv and z drive and psu. these are brand new tv,s. I am fully aware that the ctrl pcb has to be carefully matched to the screen. i dont know where to go next, screen???
i am able, free of charge to supply any hitachi, toshiba, sharp  or lg service updates and manuals, i also have eeprom dumps for these sets also, uk only, as we are dealers for these companies, hope this helps, can you help me pls, thanks, tony walker

funny you should say that as ive had a good few lg plasma"s esp the 42v6 and most of them have had a loud buzz and i changed all the pcb boards to find the buzz was still there it sounded like it was coming from the y sus but i ended up changing all the boards the only thing left was the pdp screen must be at fault

I presume you are talking about a faulty TV, Re: no picture.
I have crossed a few that makes a medium to very loud buzz & yes it was the panel. Dont know why or how they make this noise, but it's the panel. Have only heard an LG panel do it too, since thats mainly what I'm seeing.......Lifes Good.

Further to any queries re loud buzz no pic on the pc1da, 42pc55\56. i can now verify all panels were swapped, screens are faulty. Spoke to lg technical, they are aware of it,

I had same fault before.Problem is in flexi cables from y-drive (top and bottom) touch the metal frame and give vibration noise between it.
Problem can fix by put small piece of rubber between frame and cable.
