Hi Bruce,

Suspect if you have a problem with my upload you might be more specific with some actual repair facts.

Only upload what I find, and 'natch can be wrong, unlike Aussies- Chris.

Hi Bruce,

Set went off the next day, with relays clicking - Can't always be right, but was initially sure of a mend.

Should teach me - noted a kit on the Flea for the prob.

No problems at all - Thanks - Chris

As a thought - Got a kit without a fuse, as mine hasn't popped - TV just comes on and goes off after a while with relays clicking -

But always working the next day - Tried Heating/Cooling/Bashing stuff on the power board to show up dries - famed on this board - nothing, as had soldered up the usuals 4 years ago.

Happens to the best of us, Turnip, c'est la vie. Doesn't sound like caps but who's to know. Have a note for no go, relay clicking:  replace CX817, CX823, CX824, CX826, CX834 and CX835 in PSU secondary as well as
CB613, CB803 and CB814 in the primary. Might also pay to revisit CX801/2 for dry joints.

Hi Bruce,

Well said, and love that French from an Aussie.

Went for a repair pack that didn't involve a fuse, as didn't have a duff one.

Pack has pile of caps, as you suggested and will natch check those original bits for dries.

If successful, will try improve language.

Thought you chaps got sent there after sheep stealing - Too much Dickens, perhaps.

Hi Turnip,
We're a multi-talented, multilingual, multicultural lot. A tad light-fingered too....taxes, cricket trophies, and a few wooly sheep as well. Willy Shakespeare was the go in my youth, with a smidgen of Dickens.

Bon chance with your repair kit. Be interested to see where this goes. This model was a bit of a bad egg.

Hi Bruce,

Admit I've always hated Plasma, as they used to have a toughened glass screen, so a brick or RCU was usually shugged off, so they became quite old before recycling sites met them, and were always analogue, horribly heavy and with sparklies where one twiddled pots to best effect.

Note modern sets have dispensed with the front screen to try be as nifty as LED backlit sets. Upshot is a load of panels on the Flea that one can't use as we don't have a usable screen.

Thought this Sammy was nifty, as was DVB and had the toughened screen. Made a useful pound from the double fet PS dries, but after some years are beginning to haunt me.

To the point - replaced all those supplied caps (which included the one I mentioned) also re-visted those two hot fets plus all the devices on the secondary heat sink for possible dries.

Reading 'King Lear' and 'Bleak Workshop' - again, as things can only get better - Chris.

PS - will note on Quuq  - success, or even failure.

Hi Bruce,

After certain OK days, dries seem the main biz.

Not sure whether those two hot Fets were again the trouble, or possible dries on secondary devices, as re-soldered them all.

Thought mention - Replacement caps - cool, possibly innocent - apart from that 1000/25 def bulgy and duff, but not sure whether was the main problem - guess not - Chris.

Hi Turnip,

Never mind. A win's a win whichever way you look at it. I'll store that in my dodgy hard drive brain and drink a dram of turnip wine in your honour.

Hi Bruce,

Glad you mention it, never had any luck with wine of the root variety. Thought I might be into the biz with Sugar Beet as with 28 per cent sugar content, thought couldn't lose, as East Anglia has fields full of 'em.

Mentioned to a local farmer who wondered how many tons I might require for the needy glass.

Found, as with Turnips, Carrots and Beetroot, wine turned 'Mousey' (Local dielect) and was total crap. Guess there's a way, but haven't yet discovered it so stick to tree fruit.

As to the Sammy, guess dries spread as it's a real hot P/S - Still working, but won't hand it back for another week or so, even though chap wants to watch football for some reason - Chris.

Hi Turnip,
Going by the TFC (techo's financial crisis) in the current state of the industry, the only place we'll be calling is the debtors court as guests  of Betty Windsor. Given that you're a septuagenarian, we might have to meet in the afterlife as guests of Old Nick. On the other hand SWMBO is hinting at a return visit to the scene of our crimes (pre-deportation as convicts), so you never know.
I'll say hello to Willy and Kate for you.
