LG 37lc55
« on: May 26, 2014,07:56:55 »
Hi All
I have this LG 37lc55 in for repair. After the set is switched on it goes to stand/by after about 10mins sometimes it takes longer. I have changed all the caps in the power supply board for h-grade caps but the set still goes to stand/by, When this happens if you bring the set out of stand/by by pressing the power button on the remote the set comes on the sound comes up, the back lights come on then the back lights flicker then go off and the set goes back to stand//by this will happen a few times and some times if you keep re-pressing the power button the set will come on and stay on displaying a good picture and sound.
Has any one had this problem with one of these sets before ?.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards Ron :41:

Hi Ron,

Have thoughts as to an inverter/screen tube problem.

Admit few problems with this size screen tubes if LG, so leaning towards inverter.

Guess inverter faults don't generally cause set to cut to S/by, but admit never yet met this model.

Glad to hear of your up-dates - all the best - Chris.

Ron, check out C901 and C533 on the Main board. They are known troublemakers [like the Turnip] causing flashing/flickering picture. Otherwise, I don't have a curlew.

Hi All
Firstly a big thank you to (downunder) for his help with this fault.
As downunder quoted I checked sm caps on main board C533 and C901 both 16v 100uf although they both seemed fine and checked with cap meter and were reading 101.7 and 103.1 but changed anyway set has stayed on since changing these caps set was on for 3hrs last night, Then when switched on this morning it came straight on and has stayed on all day. I have put in st/by a couple of times just to see that it fires up ok, And all seems fine.
So a big thank you to all that replied and a big thank you to downunder for his help.
Hope this helps others with this post.
Regards Ron
