Polaroid TLU03223 - Signal problems
« on: May 29, 2014,12:00:42 »
Hi folks,

Have an old one here, where initially, no programmes are available to view. A channel search at switch on gives a restricted number of channels that twitch a bit.  But when set is warmed up, all channels are stored and available without any hiccups.

Thought try warm the set up first (Main and PS) discovered no channels until re-tuned yet again.

Bit confusing - suspected initially that there were troubles on the supply lines - Caps on the PS, or maybe troubles on the several Buck converters on the main board. Heat seems to prove this thought incorrect.

Made a point of warming/freezing  the tuners - no difference. Realise that a DVB box would do the job no problems.

Set was dropped off by a nice chap on the local Dust-cart, and hoping further supplies, would like to sort it.

As an amusement - Chap said, because he was not now allowed to 'Tot' would slip any binned tellies behind a convenient country hedge, and advise me with the postal code for collection - Service, indeed.

Out of interest - Power - Acbel AP16LD04-861G  Mains - PWB-1086-02 and PWB-0967-01

Any thoughts ?

Should Bruce require a translation into 'New Speak' will do my best, although much grammar would natch' be deleted - Not yet been to Australia, nor ever hope to - Winston Turnip.

Just laying bricks for a smile for folks who have lived a bit.

So it's Winston Turnip now, or should that read 'winsome'.

Polaroid is certainly an enigma....never met too many of them, they should have stuck to making their low-grade cameras. Can't enlighten you, I'm afraid.

Nice little sideline with Harold Steptoe. T'would be termed 'aiding and abetting' with felons by the local constabulary. Could end up getting transported in shackles to my neck of the woods. I'm available if you need a cockatoo.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks muchly, but was referring to Winston Smith, who had troubles with 'New Speak' where words were reduced considerably, resulting nothing but praise for the Big Bro. who didn't actually exist.

Recall, Douglas Adams suggested that if one doesn't have a known word for a problem, it probably doesn't exist.

Like that thought, but suspect he hadn't met Polariod TVs, as he went for the named stuff, like Apple Macs that he and several other known Arty folks enthuse about.

Admit, Daughter, who acquired a BSC, is also addicted to Apple cores, poss as her men have always been BA Arty Farty types who puff strange substances reared in the Greenhouse as Tomatoes.

Should I require a parrot/cockatoo to assist/prevent transportation, will quickly advise. Re-reading Great Expectorations again - Never quite know - But our Abel Magwich never needed anything but a file and a Pork Pie - Chris.

Highly commendable of you to seek such literary stimulation at your time of life, or have you reached a post-mid-life crisis, at which time the mind, having reached its acme of development, then starts the slippery slide back towards its childhood.

Suppose you think Abel Jaggers was an old rocker on a rolling stone.
Me, I feel like I've fallen on Hard Times at The Old Electronics Shop otherwise known as Bleak House
or The Little Shop of Horrors.

Had a good laugh though.

Hi Bruce,

Might well be offended, but as you're an Aussie, and of naturally short attention span, not a jot.

Like your book-ish literary aspersions though our 'Will's' thoughts.

70 is now 40, or even less. Thought to give my second best bed to my first wife - She said stuff it.

One Might need to read a bit, to get the idea.

Trying get the latest 'Little Shop of Horrors' but seldom occurs on local TV

Got the old B/W one - not quite the same.

Still running my 'Old Curiosity Shop' of repairs, but unlike our known man, don't bet, but enjoy a glass of Turnips.

Guess you've read some Dickens, how about 'Proust' to sort some lost time, or even 'James Joyce', where you can try sort the punctuation, as he never bothered.

Was really glad that some of our favourite Beat Poets did much the same, as did most of the Bloomsbury set, some years earlier.

Gather a known Ex-Aussie did something locally with wobble-boards and primitive electronics - reputedly - possibly not quite an equal to anything actually British - Chris.

PS - Still got this Polariod rubbish, and the bin man is about to call.
