Code 10 will be the chip capacitor (1uF 25V smd) on MC301. This will gladden Turnip's heart. Piccie attached showing module with new capacitor attached.

Well observed - Couldn't make out the SD card myself, but getting old.

Not been back to Yarmouth since the late 50's when just a lad, so guess 'Butler Stuff' also 'The Drunkard's Dream' and 'The Laughing Sailor' are now history, as they possibly couldn't convert from pennies through Decimalisation and on to current cash and still get laughs from folks who now come by car, and stay for an hour or two.

Earlier folks came by train and stayed for a week or two - Me mum did Bed and Breakfast, and young lads like me carried their cases on wheelbarrows from Yarmouth's three stations - Now, just the one.

Recall, when renting sets with pre-payment meters, had to keep filing the slots for ever bigger coins, and note the nifty folks who could un-pick my cheapy locks.

Family folks still enjoyed poking harmless crustations with pins - Great day.

Admit - bit off the point, but history can be amusing - Don't ask about the Herring though.

Thanks for all replay as I said I can't hear clicking sound of relay so I don't think so problem is with SMD CAP.When I press the power button won't get any pulse for mainboard to power supply.any one has got service manual for this tv?I do aplogize in advance for my bad english.

Hi Samisat. don't dismiss the capacitor out of hand. I've done a dozen Panasonics using this chassis that suffered from code 10. Every one of them was down to this cap. It is a pivotal part of the FTSB 15V rail (pin 7 of plug PL6) from which all other LT rails are derived. As soon as the main micro responds to an error, its operation is suspended.Hence no PS-ON (TV SUB-ON) voltage is sent to the power supply.

Be sure to check the SD card slot for coins or other foreigners, and shine a torch into it to see if the pins at the back are mangled, as this can short out the 3V3 rail which will also trigger code 10.

On MC301, the TEA1611 chip required 13.5V to pin 13 to commence operation generating the 15V. This cap hangs off pin 13 and goes to ground, so if it goes leaky, the 13.5V is not achievable, and the 15V is not generated. A 4.7 Kohm resistor from the Module pin 12 to the chip pin 13 should supply enough extra volts/current to get the chip started, as a test.

Any 50V rated cap can be used, poly, tantalum or electro. I use a 1uF 50V electro which I glue to the chip for rigidity because the solder pads are very brittle and small.

Bugger! In the quuq downloads area, I've uploaded a service bulletin for diagnosing code 10. You may care to take a look at it.

Alternately, with the power supply board on the bench, apply a low current variable supply ( less than 2mA is all that is required) to pin 12 of MC201 or MC301. The negative of the power supply used should be connected to the hot common. The 3 white 0.1 ohm resistors in a row is an easy spot to connect to.

Increase the voltage and monitor pin 7 of the module. It will track the input voltage. Before you reach 15V, the module should switch on if it is functional, but it should happen at less than 14.5V. Pin 7 will output a square wave. If the module doesn't respond, you may increase the voltage further, but don't exceed 20V.
The higher the voltage needed to wake the module, the worse state it is in.

You're welcome, to be sure, Chris. Panasonics can be quite a challenge since the error codes generally have to be taken with a grain of salt, and I'm sure a goliard such as yourself will know the meaning of that.

Sure, I enjoy a glass, but am neither a poet nor an apologetic Theist.

Had myself a Sammy PS-50Q97HD in today with a popped top buffer chip, and chap wanted a cheap mend, and change from a small note - Quoted £200 plus possibly a new screen - he declined.

Would refer him to you, but postage both ways would be a killer - Chris.

P/S Realise advice from flashing leds indicates a problem - Ours to try 'suss' what problem is the current biz when  there are so many options for most flashes.
