Sony KDL-23B4030

Hi all, sorry for delay. I have KDL-26u3000 with smashed screen , the main board its the same as KDL- 23b4030 main so I replaced it but no joy also I checked it from other in put and no pic. I want ask these 2 main board are the same or I made mistake.

Hi Sam,

You finally got a word in edgeways! Not sure if using the 26U3000 main board is conclusive. It uses a WAX2 chassis but I cannot glean any info whatsoever on the 23B4030. Do the numbers on the white stickers on each board match up exactly?

If the unit turns on OK and you have backlights, there's a chance the main board is OK. Are the symptoms exactly the same with both boards? If the tv has AV OUT, you could check to see if a monitor hooked up to AV OUT displays a picture. If not, then main board is suspect.

Guess the next step would be to check the t-con. An OK fuse doesn't exonerate it. Is it the same on both sets? If so you could try a swap. Don't forget too, the old flashlight on the screen trick.

Hi Folks,

Gather WAX2 chassis has well known firmware issues. Have one myself where led error flashes don't relate to anything sensible, and the set cuts to S/by after a minute.

If new firmware sorts mine, will advise - Chris.
